The South African Government gazetted the latest specifications related to the cap lamps used in underground mining industry. Specifications SABS 1438-2013 became the law in May 2013. This meant that all South African underground mines were required to use cap lamps complying to this specification within twenty-four months from the date of promulgation of the gazette. In addition, the cap lamps have to be approved by DMR.

This gadget is able to locate trapped lamp users in a 30 meters radius sphere, even through solid rock walls. According to Mine Rescue Services it substantially shortens the rescue time. This in turn can save life’s.
The location transmitter GLON is available for all cap lamp manufacturers and can easily be added by simply fitting it below a cap lamp cover.
